HOT MEALS PROGRAM HOT MEALS PROGRAM

Each Friday evening, at 5:00PM, the church prepares hot meals for any person who wishes to participate. We have served as many as 150 meals in one evening. The kitchen is used by those who volunteer to serve in this particular ministry of the church.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Each summer the church conducts a Vacation Bible School, for children from the age of three to those in the sixth grade. VBS is held in the evening for one week, beginning on a Sunday evening and ending on a Thursday night.

SERVANT EVANGELISM
Various committees and groups within the church have adopted projects which they will perform during the year. These projects are acts of service to those outside our church, with no strings attached to the deeds performed. Examples are washing car windows, washing cars, helping shoppers on rainy days with umbrellas, taking cookies to safety forces, etc. Donations are not accepted for these services, as they are done to demonstrate the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He freely gave of His love to free us from our sins and present us to His Father without blemish.

ANGEL TREE CHRISTMAS ANGEL TREE CHRISTMAS

Angel Tree Christmas is a ministry of Community United Methodist Church. Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree gives churches an opportunity to share Christ's love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. Participating in Angel Tree is a powerful way to lovingly answer the biblical call to minister to the “least of these”. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. Local church volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent. Christmas 2007 provided CUMC members with the opportunity to serve 11 children and their families; we look forward to increasing the blessing to our community in 2008.

CUMC FOOD PANTRY CUMC FOOD PANTRY

Community United Methodist Church has opened a food pantry to assist those in our community in need of help with food supplies. We are approved by Second Harvest as a food distributor. We open the doors at noon every Friday. We receive about 1300 pounds of food each week. Members of our church are also asked to donate various items to go along with the supplies which we receive from Second Harvest. We need assistance in picking up the food, including trucks and loaders, as well as people to place the supplies on the shelves. Monetary donations can be made to the church, which has a special account set aside just for the food pantry. Anyone desiring to be of help may contact our church office (365-7391)

Below is a list of food pantries in Elyria City and Lorain City, their address and hours of operation (last updated in August 2010).
