Women's Bible Study(2).JPG

Sept. 16 & 18/2014

New Beth Moore Study on "Children of the Day: I & II Thessalonians" will begin on Tuesday morning @ 10:00 AM, Sept. 16 & Thursday evening @ 6:30 PM, Sept. 18. This is a verse by verse 9 week study of Paul's two letters to the church at Thessalonica. Whether you're facing family crises, medical diagnoses, relationship troubles, doubts, or fears, you'll come away encouraged that even though it may not feel that way, you are exactly where Christ wants you to be. "You are children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to darkness." I Thess. 5:5

Features - (1) Biblically rooted & gospel-centered teaching, (2) Personal study segments - 8 weeks with 5 days each, (3) Greek word studies included in homework, (4) Interactive activities for the individual student as you complete homework, & (5) A 28 day challenge (beginning week 5) where women may choose to participate in as they complete the final weeks of the study.

Books are $16.00 & will be distributed at the first class. Sign-up forms will be in the narthex of the church starting 8/3. We need to place the order for the books by the end of August, so please sign-up as soon as possible or we cannot guarantee the books will arrive on time. Our church is joining thousands of other churches across America for Back To Church Sunday - a special day where we will invite unchurched people in our community to come give church a try! On this Sunday, we will be having a special service to welcome these guests & make them feel comfortable.  We will be providing a soup & salad luncheon for all, after the worship service.

Reachout Presents

The Reachout TEAM is recommending a presentation by 321 media ministries. This presentation looks at three steps, which lead to an acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior. Simply go to our "LINKS TO OTHERS" tab & checkout the four videos available on their webpage or use http://321.revivalmedia.org/welcome/

Valet Service

The church has started a parking valet service & will extend it beyond the winter months. Anyone wishing to use this service can pull their car to the door on top of the hill driveway. Blowing your horn will notify the valet inside the door to come & park your car for you. They will then return your keys prior to Sunday School or Worship. After worship a valet will be happy to retrieve your car & bring it to the top of the hill. Persons should register for this service by contacting Linda Knapp (667-7056) & stating if you want to use it prior to Sunday School or prior to the worship service. Registering for the service is preferred to just sitting & blowing your horn over & over again. There is no charge for this service.  Pre-Sunday School service is from  9:15-9:30 & Pre-Worship is from 10:15-10:35

Our Food Pantry will now be serving the public on the second, third & fourth Fridays of the month. No longer will they be open on the first or the fifth Friday of each month. Volunteers are still needed to pass out food, carry food to cars & help in general.

Sunday School.jpg

Last year and so far this year Community has enjoyed two adult Sunday School classes, meeting from 9:30AM to 10:30 AM every Sunday. The traditional class meets downstairs in room 113 and usually studies the Bible a book at a time, faithfully and ably led by Chuck Shaffer. This year they started in I Corinthians and will go on into II Corinthians until summer break.
The contemporary class meets in the parlor Sunday mornings and will be returning to their normal format of viewing DVDs by Ray Vanderlaan, the first Sunday in September.  Sunday, September 7, 2014 is the startup date for this class.
A new and exciting study for men and women small groups is being considered & we now have a regularly meeting Sunday School for elementary age and Growing Up Church at the worship hour. Feel free to attend these classes and see what you have been missing!
